Kia will begin production of a new global strategic model 'Syros' at its Indian plant and start mass production.

Kia held a ceremony to mass-produce the compact SUV "Syros" at its Indian plant in Andhra Pradesh, India, on the 16th (local time).

The ceremony was attended by about 200 executives including Kia Song Ho-sung, Lee Tae-hoon, head of global business management, and Lee Kwang-gu, head of the Indian region.

Kia unveiled Syros in India last December for the first time in the world and carefully analyzed the market to make customized vehicles ahead of local production and sales in India.

Syros, the name of the island, is named after the island of the Greek Cyclades, which means that it will provide a differentiated merchantability from the competition models by projecting the image of Siros Island in harmony with tradition and Western culture.

Syros is an urban SUV with a variety of state-of-the-art specifications and smart connectivity systems, bold design and comfortable interior space.

In particular, sliding and reclining functions are applied to the rear seats, ventilation sheets are applied, advanced driver assistance systems and dual panoramic sunroofs are installed to provide the highest level of travel experience in the same class.

Syros has posted sales of 10,258 units since the pre-contract, and predicted sales in the Indian market.

Kia plans to open and sell Syros to the Indian market on the 1st of next month and plan to expand its sales market to Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

"Kia's new model, Syros, reflects the opinions of its customers and has a variety of advanced specifications and comfortable interior spaces," said Song Ho-sung. "Through Syros, we will continue to provide differentiated value to our customers in India, "He said.
